Display - FPDC Plans PDP Module Capacity Expansion

Formosa Plasma Display will be investing NT$22 billion on a PDP (Plasma Display Panel) module plant with a monthly capacity of 150,000 units. The company plans to primarily target output at the corporate segment, with secondary emphasis on consumer applications.

 

Formosa Plasma Display is joint venture between Formosa Plastics, which holds a 77.5% share and Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display, which holds 22.5%.

 

During the first phase of investment the two parties spent NT$4.7 billion on a PDP module plant with monthly capacity of 10,000 units; mass production began in August 2003. The second phase brought monthly capacity up to 60,000 units through a total investment of NT$16 billion. The second phase is slated for mass production in 2005.
